La ora actuala, colosii cautarilor pe web au lansate servicii de cartografiere si informatii geografice (GIS) publice gratuite. Evident ca nu totul este gratuit, servicii legate de pozitionarea globala (GPS etc), legate de personalizarea unor puncte de interes (locatii firme etc.) sunt exemple de servicii platite. Adresele web ale acestor servicii sunt:

Google a mai lansat si aplicatia 3D, Google Earth, care poate fi downloadata de la adresa http://earth.google.com/ mai exact http://earth.google.com/download-earth.html. Spre deosebire de variantele web, aceasta aplicatie are nevoie de o placa grafica buna, si de resurse hardware considerabile, vedeti specificatiile de pe site. Vestea buna este ca google pune la dispozitie si o versiune de Linux a Google Earth, fapt nemaintalnit pana acum in acest domeniu.
